Pictured above is the first strip done back in 2003 for the “Adventures of Commander Chemo.” The text is a bit hard to read on the graphic, so I will transcribe here.

Panel 2: Commander Chemo locates the Cancer on the Body Map. It has taken over Pan-Crete Village, immediate action is required!
Panel 3: Commander Chemo races to the Cancer in his ship the “Obliterator.”

Recently on my last trip to Mobile Alabama, I created the first sketch of Shock the Dog. Shock is a new character to the Commander Chemo family and is probably the cutest. Shock is pattered off of our newly adopted Terrier mutt (saved from the Humane Society in Denver). Shock listens for Cancer cells (that is why her ears are massive), and once she locates them she produces a “shock bark” that freezes the cells in place. Commander Chemo, Radiation Ray and Rebecca hear the bark, come along and kill the cells. It’s a perfect partnership.
This version of Shock was created on the iPad during my flight between Denver and Houston. She is not fully formed yet, so please let me know what else you would suggest she have (cape, hat, etc.).
Anyway, I hope you like the newest member to the Commander Chemo Corps. Until next week.

I have a few local artists creating some prototypes of the Commander Chemo characters. I will be posting photos and updating the status on these guys. I am considering taking on one more artist to create a their vision on what the characters will look like. Before I begin production I really want to make sure that our characters are unique, but more importantly special to the kids.
If you are interested, please reply and we can discuss the particulars. I will be posting my sketches and ideas on how they should look, but feel free to submit your own ideas as well.
Thank You! Here is to a great 2011!

Commander Chemo is back and better than ever. After a 5 year hiatus, Commander Chemo and his trio of Cancer fighting superheroes (Radiation Rebecca and Shock the Dog) are back and waging a “shock and awe” campaign against Cancer.
The forces are gathering and all will be revealed soon. Check back for updates, original art, calendar of events and much more.
Coming to a hospital, book store, school and doctor’s office near you. Don’t miss a chance to meet Commander Chemo and Shock the Dog. Stay strong and never give up.
“Hope knows only the bounds that we give it.”
